When making an outbound call, Aircall Workspace displays the recipient's timezone directly in the app. This article explains how the timezone is determined and what to expect when calling numbers in countries with regional number distributions.

How the recipient timezone is determined

The timezone displayed is based on the recipient's phone number, not their actual geographic location. Aircall infers the timezone from the number series assigned to the recipient's region or country.

Different countries handle number distribution differently:

  • In some countries, landline numbers follow fixed regional series, so the displayed timezone is generally accurate.
  • In others, particularly for mobile numbers, there are no regional restrictions on number assignment. In these cases, Aircall may display a timezone that differs from where the recipient is actually located.
Note: The recipient timezone shown in Aircall Workspace is an estimate based on number series data. It may not reflect the recipient's actual location, especially for mobile numbers.
